The Colourpoint Society of Great Britain was originally formed in 1972 and became affiliated to the GCCF in 1975.
In 2019, with the approval of the GCCF, the decision was taken to open membership to all breeds and the Society name was changed accordingly.
At it’s inception, members of the Society were all owners/breeders of colourpointed Persians. As time has progressed and the list of acknowledged breeds and recognised coat patterns has increased, we are delighted to offer membership to anyone who owns / shows / breeds colourpointed cats of any breed. We also have members who don’t actively own or show any colourpointed cats at the present time but just wish to support the Society.
Membership numbers have fluctuated greatly over the last 45 years and we hope will continue to increase in the future.
We currently have a small, yet dedicated Committee comprising of experienced owners and breeders of colourpointed cats, all of whom are always willing to offer help and advice to new or inexperienced owners.
We are looking to appoint two new members to the Committee and welcome enquiries from anyone interested. You will be expected to attend a maximum of two face-to-face meetings each year, which are normally held at the home of our Chairman in Leatherhead, and would also be expected to help at our annual show. If you would like a more active role within the Club or think you could bring some fresh ideas to the table then please get in touch with our Treasurer.
We generally hold an annual show which in recent years has been a joint show with The National Cat Club at the Bracknell Leisure Centre. After a prolonged hiatus initiated by the COVID 19 Pandemic where shows were suspended in 2020 and 2021, and the knock-on effect which meant that we were also unable to arrange a show in 2022, we are very much looking forward to our 2023 show which will be held at a new venue for us and with the Wiltshire and District Cat Club.
